Time, Biology and Evolution

0. Every human changes and every system evolves over time.
0. Evolution basics are why we are who we are. They are simple and always valid: Those who reproduce, reproduce.
1. Everything in biology evolves to pass genes on, through survival and tribal support.
2. The need to conform to other people (the tribe) and deeply care what they think about us is built into our Biology.
3. Biology is more concerned with survival and reproduction, rather than individual happiness.

4. Knowing the truth is of little biological concern as it was often at odds with tribal support.
5. Love and empathy are biologically built into us, and so are fear and violence. The Environment plays a key role on which is activated.
6. Most humans really cannot feel time. They evolved for short term planning only (up to 1 year).
7. The relationship between you and future-you requires giving yourself all possible long term freedom.
8. The relationship between you and future-you requires developing a deep intuition about how change works for you.

Emotions and choices

  1. Self-love and acceptance are universal and not earned. It’s in ours and everyone’s best interest to have them.
  2. When we lack self-love and acceptance we develop mental health problems and addictions as a coping mechanism.
  3. Every human has a multitude of emotions based on forms of love or fear.
  4. Every long term fear-based emotion is detrimental for a human and their peers.
  5. Intuition based on love-based emotions and experience is our best tool in life.

6. Most humans make most choices based on emotions (including intuitive/gut feelings) rather than reason.*

7. Every choice is between a lot of options. Much more than we think. You think you’re choosing between a thousand jobs. In reality it’s more like a million. Big numbers are hard to comprehend.

8. Humans rarely have their best option among the ones they choose from at any moment.

* Emotions influence reasoning and twists it around all the time. While reason influences emotions only when targeted, during short intervals of time. Therefore emotions have control over a large part of our reasoning, even without us noticing. When you look at a typical choice, where you didn’t even consider the best options, emotions usually have a big role in this.

Systems and change

  1. It’s fundamentally easier to destroy structures than to create them on every level.
  2. To survive, humans have evolved the innate desire to create structures and oppose destruction.
  3. Opposing destruction largely means preserving the current state of everything (inertia).
  4. In order to prevent destruction of structures, systems of humans have emerged in order to preserve.

5. The main goal of human systems is always system survival and never radical positive change.
6. Systems of humans only function with a closed “our way or the highway” framework.
7. Radical positive change can only come from humans, not systems of humans.
8. The larger a system is, the least empathy it has for any individual.
9. The larger a system is, the more greedy it is for resources.
10. The larger a system is, the more it stifles the chaos needed for progress.

Relationships and systems

0. Love is the innate human desire to give happiness and increase freedom for others.
0. Freedom is the ability to do anything that doesn’t deny others freedom, even if it breaks rules and norms. Every single bad thing (killing, abuse, stealing) is simply reducing the freedom of another human.
1. Love and freedom should be the bases of all relationships. If you ever feel envy or jealousy, it’s your biology and fears fighting this. A golden opportunity for personal growth.
2. All of society’s problems start with humans and systems who don’t value others’ freedom and reduce it.
3. All of society’s problems can be solved with enough love in all its forms (empathy, advocacy, motivation, creativity).

4. Humans should monitor systems (including corporations) constantly to keep them in line with the human priority of freedom.
5. The right to destroy or weaken a toxic system, if it would increase the freedom of its related humans, is an essential part of our freedom.
6. The overarching system of cultural norms and dated morality standards is a burden for your freedom and growth. This is a connection worth severing. You will become a better person when you ditch the fear of being a bad one.
7. If you want to be a leader, you need empathy and scale. For scale, you have to give up control and accept anything can happen, including breaking moral and cultural norms.

Truth and knowledge

  1. The best discovery of humans is the method for building a system of true knowledge – The Scientific Method.
  2. The Scientific Method is a principle, not a system. It does not fight to preserve itself. It works for us and our connection with reality so we must fight for its survival and implementation.
  3. The Scientific Method is much more effective at progress than any system of humans, including democracy.
  4. The Scientific Method still needs human intuition to guide research and human emotions to motivate it.
  5. The Scientific Method is perfect for being implemented by imperfect humans. Its integrity is built-in.

6. Truth is essential for evaluating human freedom in different scenarios and making choices. Exact science cannot reach most everyday situations. Intuition and self-knowledge should complement data.
7. Science is powerful because it’s universal. A plane flies the same way regardless of the countries it flies over and their different people and cultures.
8. Scientific studies should be completely accessible for free to the public, unless they can clearly be used for massive harm (eg. deadly virus DNA).

Money and the economy

0. Money is a great invention of mankind but it’s terribly communicated in our culture. The only thing wrong with money is that ordinary people don’t understand how value and money are created, flow and interchange.
1. Humanity will not be ready for a resource-based economy for some time. We first need to solve our current economic challenges.
2. Free market capitalism has the best record of all tried economic systems as it best correlates with human nature and provides the most freedom. We’re also kinda stuck with it.
3. Because of their long term nature, many fields in science, education and healthcare may not have the right incentives for capitalism. The government should be involved in those.

4. Capitalism is far from perfect and needs a lot of changes in its current form. Greed should be eradicated with policies for the super rich. The bigger a corporation is, the more it should be held to very high standards in every aspect.
5. Extreme inequality leads to suffering, has profound social consequences and should be fought with priority. People with disabilities should not be left behind. We have to accept that you can be poor due to simple bad luck and need to create appropriate support programs to fight poverty.
6. It should become a cultural sin to hoard money rather than invest or donate them. Investing large amounts of money should be under public scrutiny about who it benefits. Rich people and big corporations are touchy about reputation.
7. A bottom-up approach to inequality should be practiced, alongside government policies. No one can stop you from earning and donating effectively huge amounts of money.
8. Business and being an entrepreneur is amazing since it increases freedom. Just don’t do what other people do. Be bold and creative while keeping risks low by trying and failing small.
9. Jobs are not fixed and complete entities. Every job is simply a loosely packaged exchange of resources like any other exchange. You should make sure the exchange is fair but more so that you both give and receive a lot. In freedom, appreciation, experience and money.
10. Jobs are about giving more so you can receive more. Don’t hold back! If you want to give and the system stops you, it’s a broken one.
